Artist's Description
I saw these growing along a rural road. I had never seen one before. After taking picture of them I searched the Internet to see if I could learn what this beautiful wildflower was. I was surprised when I found out that such a lovely delicate flower like this had such a gory name. Well, the sap or fluid from the stems is red like blood and evidently good for a dye.

My introduction to photography was with a 35mm Minolta SRT 101 SLR in the early 1970s. I fell in love with the work of Ansel Adams and had my camera calibrated by Fred Picker, who was an Adams enthusiast and teacher, to match Ansel Adams' Zone System that he created for black and white photography.
