Artist's Description

My wife and I drove about 45 miles north to see if the leaves had changed any more than they have in our area. They hadn't. We found directions on the Internet for a waterfall called the Freedom Falls and headed for that. We never made it to the falls but we found the Rockland Tunnel which is 2,868 feet (874 meters) long. It was built for the Allegheny Valley Railroad but now it has been turned into a Rails to Trails. It was quite dark and we didn't have a flashlight. My wife got claustrophobic so we turned around.
This tunnel was built by men working two shifts, six days a week, 10-12 hours a day for 17 cents an hour. Most of them were European immigrants.

Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to browse my photography. I am based in northwestern Pennsylvania surrounded by a large Amish community. I am a long-time photographer. My introduction to photography was with a 35mm Minolta SRT 101 SLR in the early 1970s. I fell in love with the work of Ansel Adams and wanted to do mostly black-and-white photography. When my wife and I started a family I fell away from photography and gave up film and photo development along with my darkroom. Now that I am back. I have bought three Canon dSLR cameras over the years. My first was a Canon EOS T3i and then I upgraded to a 70D. In 2022 I learned that Canon was doing away with its EOS line of cameras, so I upgraded to a 90D. My favorite subjects...
