My wife noticed this swallowtail at our butterfly plant. I put my long lens on my camera and headed outside. I had mentioned in a post a little while ago that shooting butterflies teach you patience the way they flit. This one as soon as I got out there left. Then it came back then left again. Never landing. I snapped some shots of the flowers just to test how fast the camera would focus if it came back. Finally, after 5 to 10 minutes, it returned. It took a little more time before it sat nicely on top of this flower.
Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to browse my photography. I am based in northwestern Pennsylvania surrounded by a large Amish community. I am a long-time photographer. My introduction to photography was with a 35mm Minolta SRT 101 SLR in the early 1970s. I fell in love with the work of Ansel Adams and wanted to do mostly black-and-white photography. When my wife and I started a family I fell away from photography and gave up film and photo development along with my darkroom. Now that I am back. I have bought three Canon dSLR cameras over the years. My first was a Canon EOS T3i and then I upgraded to a 70D. In 2022 I learned that Canon was doing away with its EOS line of cameras, so I upgraded to a 90D. My favorite subjects...
